CLCS Pre-K Holds Early ‘Bash At The Beach’

June 1, 2014
Post-Journal

Pre-kindergarten children at Chautauqua Lake Central School marked the Month of the Young Child in April with an ocean-themed "Beach Bash." Parent volunteers helped the children dance, make playdough colored with Kool Aid and craft "SCUBA divers" using colored hard-boiled eggs. They used a "wind machine" to blow bubbles and fly scarves, and they snacked on snow cones and Goldfish crackers. Pictured is teaching assistant Tara Hoitink helping Gavin Roberts finish his handmade "SCUBA diver," as Sky Johnson-McKane, Nora Freay and Karie Tarr wait for their turn. Sporting their beach gear are the children with adult helpers, from back left: Pat Sandle, senior volunteer; Tara Hoitink, teaching assistant; parent Amy Schulz, who helped the children blow bubbles and fly scarves in the "wind machine;" parent Shauna Ellis, who served the snack and read a story; and teacher Carol Majchrzak.
