Ronald A. Caldwell, 72 of 4161 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, N.Y., passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Golden Living Kinzua, in Warren, Pa.
Ron was an employee of Dahlstrom Manufacturing for almost 10 years and a self-employed contractor for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
He became a BCM International (Bible) Club missionary in 1979, and from that time directed the release time (religious instruction) program in Chautauqua County for the past 34 years.
He worked at Bliss Summit Bible Club Camp and directed a youth center in Hartfield, N.Y. He was an active member of the Ellery Baptist Church.
He was born Aug. 22, 1941, the son of the late Lawrence and Katherine Douglas Caldwell.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Fairman Caldwell, whom he married Sept. 21, 1964; his children: Ronald Scott Caldwell, Robin Lynn (Mark) Brinker, Dave Edward (Jamie) Caldwell and James Allen Cadwell; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers
and four sisters.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Caldwell; and an infant grandson, Justin Caldwell.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Spitzer Funeral Home, 135 Miller St., Sherman, N.Y., and for one hour prior to the service at the Ellery Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Ellery Baptist Church, 4473 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, N.Y., with Pastor Robert Benson officiating. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
