OLEAN - Three local athletes claimed individual track and field titles on Friday afternoon at the Section 6 Championships at Olean High School and another set a new school record.
Leading the way on Day 1 of the event was Falconer's MacKenzie Wright, who repeated her Division 2 title in the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 8.75 inches. Wright will now be heading to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships in Cicero on June 6 for the second consecutive year.
Joining Wright will be Randolph's Mckenna Maycock, who took home the Division 2 pentathlon on Friday with 1,856 points, more than 300 points above the second-place finisher.
Maple Grove senior Corey Wefing leads the field in the Division 2 800 meters Friday at Olean High School. Wefing’s time of 1:53.89 set a new track record.
