Betty C. Walsh, 87, of Old Fluvanna Road, Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident most of her life, she was born July 27, 1926, in Smethport, Pa., the daughter of the late Edward R. and Helen Hazen Cook.
Betty attended Jamestown schools, and had worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the area. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are her husband, John J. "Jack" Walsh, whom she married Jan. 5, 1947; a grandson, Gerald A. (Teresa) Haglund Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; three great-grandchildren: Kristina Haglund, Joseph Haglund and Ashley Baker and two great-great-grandchildren: Serenity and Alexander Baker, all of Louisville, KY; and several nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward J. Walsh; a daughter, Joan Walsh Haglund; and a brother, Thomas C. Cook.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, in the Lind Funeral Home. Her son-in- law, the Rev. Gerald A. Haglund, Heritage Ministries chaplain, will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
