FLUSHING - Senior Bryce Payne and sophomore Jack Payne continued to make a name for themselves and for Panama Thursday afternoon.
Playing for a spot in the round of 16 on Friday, the Payne brothers rallied to defeat Brendon Whalen and Alex Racine from Plattsburgh, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, in the opening round of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association doubles tournament at the Billie Jean King USTA Center in Flushing Meadows.

''The boys are thrilled with the victory and they played on a court in the shadow of the Arthur Ashe Stadium,'' said Panama coach Mark Raynor.
Both teams came in unseeded and the Paynes will now play at 8 a.m., today against an unknown opponent.
Jack Payne finished with a 12-0 record in second singles while Bryce Payne was 11-1 in first singles. They won the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association's doubles tournament for a second straight year and en route to third-place finish in Section 6 they prevailed over Zander Korach and Dan Freillicher of Orchard Park, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
