CLARENDON, Pa. -
Madelyn E. Crawford, 62, of Route 6, Clarendon, Pa., passed away Wednesday (May 28, 2014), in Warren General Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1952, in Stockton, N.Y., the daughter of Milton Lewis and Helen Bessie Merchant Chatley. She was raised by Orvis and Carolyn Kingsbury, in their home, along with their own children.
Madelyn was a 1970 graduate of Pine Valley Central School and Jamestown Community College School of Nursing where she received her degree in registered nursing. She retired as an registered nurse at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, N.Y.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Lattter-day Saints in Warren. Madelyn loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her adoptive mother, Carolyn Kingsbury of Randolph; six children: Michael J. Crawford of North Dakota, Thomas Edward J. Crawford of Jamestown, Jason J. Crawford of Jamestown, Angeline J. Crawford of Falconer, Amanda J. Crawford of Falconer, and Annette J. Crawford, with whom she shared a home in Clarendon, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; a brother; Douglas D. Chatley of Cassadaga, N.Y.; and her adoptive siblings: Darlene Fisher of Randolph, Ken Kingsbury of Sugar Grove, Pa., Doug Kingsbury of Sugar Grove, and John Kingsbury of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Orvis Kingsbury; an infant son, Adam Crawford; a sister; Marilyn Drayton; and brothers: Daniel Chatley and Jeffrey Kingsbury.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 31, 2014), in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jamestown Stake Center, Forest Avenue, Jamestown. Bishop David Cross will officiate. Burial will be in the Treat Memorial Cemetery in Leon, N.Y.
