Edith R. Hotchkiss, 92, formerly of Drybrook Road, Falconer passed away Sunday (May 25, 2014) in her daughters home in Kennedy.
She was born January 23, 1922, in Salamanca, the daughter of the late Lee and Nellie Kirk Maynard.
Edith was a graduate of Randolph High School and was employed by Heritage Village retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the Levant Wesleyan Church and had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Edith was also a member of the Sparrows Nest of which she was co-founder of, Fargo Mothers Club, 4-H Leader, and Here & There Home Bureau. Edith enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, flowers, bird watching and working with her husband and family on the family farm.
Surviving are two sons: Clifford (Cynthia) Hotchkiss of Falconer, Ronald (Mary Lou) Hotchkiss of Boca Raton, FL; a daughter Diane Boland of Kennedy; seven grandchildren: Kathleen (Jason) Sherman, Susanne (Jim) Stone, Joseph (Jackie) Boland, Jason (Julie) Boland, RoJan Kilmer, Jessica (Scott) McChesney, Peter Hotchkiss; a step grandson Scott Bowser; 10 great grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde L. Hotchkiss whom she married January 28, 1940 in Conewango, who died May 20, 2000; five brothers: Frank, Paul, Lee, David and Richard Maynard and a sister W. Lucille Rissel.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Al Myers pastor of Levant Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will be in Kennedy Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday.
