On Saturday, June 21, the Great Lakes Experience will present its second annual festival in Dunkirk's Memorial Park.
The festival is a free event from 11 a.m. to 5.p.m. with live animal exhibits, educational games and informative displays. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy learning about everything from the region's beautiful and fascinating wildlife to environmental protection projects. The festival targets all members of the public, young and old, avid fishermen and those attempting their first cast.
The GLE recognizes the importance of engaging the community and working with them to protect and enhance the Lower Great Lakes ecosystem, and feels the festival is the best opportunity to educate people about natural resources, celebrate ecological success stories, and reinforce that everyone has a role in protecting the environment. The festival encourages private organizations and local residents to participate in the mission of federal and state agencies to protect, conserve and enhance fish, wildlife and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the people of Western New York.
As more visitors enjoy the festival each year, the demand and opportunity for more exhibitors and sponsors to help produce the event continues to grow. The organizers invite companies, local businesses, social clubs, and environmental organizations to become festival exhibitors and/or sponsors. For more information or to register to participate in the festival as an exhibitor or sponsor, visit greatlakesexperience.org or contact Beth Smeader, executive director, Great Lakes Experience at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 545-1700.
