Virginia E. Swanson Grissom, 97, of Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing, formerly of 981 Forest Ave. Ext., died Friday (May 23, 2014), at her residence.
She was born Nov. 13, 1916, in the town of Kiantone, the daughter of Bird and Ava Wright Wares.
She had been employed at Jamestown Pipe Co., did home health care from her home and prior to that had worked at Jamestown Worsted Mills.
She had also attended the Busti Church of God.
Virginia is survived by a son, Wayne (Karen) Swanson of Jamestown; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-greatgrandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Clarence Swanson; her second husband, Joe Grissom; a daughter, Donna Swanson; a granddaughter, Wendy Hitchcock; two grandsons: Kevin and Michael Pratt; a brother, Allan Wares; and two sisters: Bernice Brown and Florence Swanson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. Roy Ferguson, pastor of Busti Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
