CHARLOTTE-The search for Tyler Chase, the 25-year-old Jamestown man facing charges out of Pennsylvania, continues in vain as search crews scour the town of Charlotte.
According to Joseph Gerace, Chautauqua County sheriff, the search has recently intensified as the Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, the Department of Environmental Conservation and a Niagara Falls-based search-and-rescue team now comprise a 35-person search party.
"Right now we're conducting another ground search in the area where his vehicle was located. (Crews) have been searching since 8:30 a.m.," Gerace said.
Pennsylvania State Police said Chase is charged with several counts of interference with the custody of a child, corruption of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child and furnishing alcohol to minors after several incidents in Warren County, Pa. and the Jamestown area between July 15 and Nov. 12 of last year.
Chase, 24 years old at the time, is accused of contacting a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old female via phone conversations and text messages. Chase would then pick up the victims after it was arranged that they would sneak out of their residences. Chase allegedly took the females to various parties and provided them with alcohol.
The Lakewood-Busti Police Department also has active warrants out for Chase.
If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Chase, call the sheriff's office at 753-2131.
