LEON - Oran W. Donner, 83, a retired controller for Rand Machine, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was born Oct. 15, 1930, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., the son of the late Julius and Irene (Heidenfeldt) Donner.
Oran worked for Sears Roebuck as a merchandise manager. He was class president of Falconer High School's Class of 1948. He served Leon as town supervisor for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cherry Creek, where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Oran enjoyed fishing, woodworking and pitching horseshoes.
He is survived by his wife, Donna G. (Fullerton) Donner of Conewango Valley, N.Y.; three sons: Scott Donner of West Valley, N.Y., Michael Donner of Jamestown, N.Y., and Timothy Donner of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; three grand-daughters: Crystal Reader of Carmel, Ind., Chelsea Donner of Frisco, Texas, and Carliegh Donner of Frisco, Texas; his great-grandchildren: Colby Donner of Carmel, Ind., Joey Reader of Carmel, Ind., and Caleb Reader of Carmel, Ind.; two brothers: Ronald Donner of Corona, Calif., and Paul Donner of Jamestown, N.Y.; and a sister, Shirley Blasdell of Jamestown, N.Y.
Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, N.Y., on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Cherry Creek. The Rev. Kevin Oakes of First Baptist Church of Cherry Creek and the Rev. Thomas Scriven will officiate. Burial will be in the Treat Memorial Cemetery in Leon, N.Y.
