Rising creeks and rivers have led to significant flooding and road closures in the local area Wednesday.
A section of Route 60, between Kiantone Road and the intersection of Route 62, has been closed due to water on the roadway.
Businesses like Floors At Your Door and Southern Auto Garage appeared to sustain massive flooding in their parking areas. It is unclear whether any interior property damage has been sustained.
According to members of the Kiantone Fire Department, a tree on Route 60, slightly west of Kiantone Road, fell onto the roadway at approximately 10:40 a.m.
The tree took down a power line and forced drivers headed toward Jamestown to take a detour onto Peck Settlement Road.
Several roads in the Jamestown area are closed due to flooding while those living near the Chadakoin River have been warned to be wary of the fast-rising river.
Two previously closed roads are now open. Tiffany Avenue was reopened around 10:20 a.m.
Route 394 in Ellicott between McDaniel Avenue and Dunham Avenue is open once again.
Roads still closed include: Route 380, between Kimball Stand and Falconer, in Ellicott;
Route 394 east and west between Memorial Drive and Mather Road in Mayville. The road is expected to be closed until at least this afternoon;
Route 62 north and south between the Kiantone town line and the Frewsburg town line. The road closed at 6:45 a.m. and is expected to be closed for up to eight hours;
Route 62 north and south between Foote Avenue and Water Street closed at 6:45 a.m. and should be closed up to eight hours.
Jones and Gifford Avenue is closed, as is Buffalo Street at Blackstone Avenue. To report flooding conditions or traffic problems due to the weather, Jamestown residents may call 661-7090.
