SARATOGA SPRINGS - The Saratoga Rowing Association recently hosted the 2014 New York State Scholastic Rowing Association state qualifiers and championships.
The event hosted 71 different club and scholastic rowing teams from across New York State, with more than 624 race entries, including boats and rowers representing the area through the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association.
All races at the event combine scholastic high school rowing teams with their club counterparts, who race in time trials with rolling starts. The fastest boats move on to the finals, which are run as nine-boat races from a stationary, staked, starting point.
Parker Roberts, Carl Shoup, Elliott Clark, Konnor Bryant and Emily Dahlgren cross the finish line in the Men’s Senior 4 boat at the New York State Scholastic Rowing Association state qualifiers and championships in Saratoga Springs earlier this month. The boat placed third (Clubs).
The weather for the event was challenging at times, with occasional rain, and strong head and quartering winds. The wind conditions resulted in choppy water, making boats using staked starting points a challenge. Despite conditions, CLRA rowers earned three medals. Results for CLRA boats were:

CLRA thanks those that have donated to the club and support rowing in our communities, and looks forward to continuing to successfully represent our area at in future events.
The Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association was created in 2005 to return the sport of rowing to the area. Today, the volunteer coaching staff fosters scholastic rowing with students from multiple high schools in our area. CLRA also educates the public on the benefits of rowing as a community resource, as well as a preferred form of recreation, teamwork training, and healthful conditioning of the mind and body.
