Gertrude M. Weaver, 88, formerly of Bradford, Buffalo Street Extension, Jamestown and Falconer went home to be with the Lord Saturday (May 17, 2014) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
An area resident most of her life, she was born March 17, 1926, in Bradford, Pa., the daughter of the late Samuel and Grace Hardy Campbell.
Gertrude attended Bradford High School and in earlier years was employed by various restaurants and later by Lutheran Social Services retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the former Buffalo Street United Methodist Church.
Gertrude faithfully used her trial of Alzheimer's to demonstrate her faith in Jesus Christ and all that knew her. "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race now. I will now receive my rewards by joining the Lord in his Kingdom of Peace."
Surviving are two sons: Kenneth H. (Candy) Weaver Jr. of Delaware and James (Linda) Weaver of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Christina (Jim) Ingerson of Lander, Pa., Thomas (Kelly) Weaver of Delaware, Kimberly (Jamie) Miraglia of Jamestown and Joseph (Michelle) Battaglia of Jamestown; and three great-grandchildren: Amanda and Nicholas Miraglia, both of Jamestown, and Broderick Weaver of Delaware.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Weaver Sr., whom she married April 14, 1945, in Bradford, who died May 11, 1992; three brothers: Samuel Campbell III, Russell Campbell and Gerald Campbell; and a sister, Dorothy Passmore.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, will officiate.
Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the funeral service Monday in the funeral home.
