At a recent Marvin House luncheon, the membership was entertained by the "ambassadors" of Jamestown, Russ Diethrick, Jim Roselle and Dennis Webster.
All renowned in Jamestown for their presence as board members in many organizations, community advocates, radio personalities and friends; the native Jamestown men each shared information about their lives individually and subsequently shared anecdotes about their experiences together, particularly through the shared radio time of "The Times of Your Life." After the audience questions, many guests lingered to speak individually with them.
Beth Trosper, Marvin House president, welcomed everyone and thanked the volunteers who assisted at the luncheon. June Diethrick was the greeter, Gerry Caruso gave the invocation, and Lorraine Bouma and Jan Gibson served as cashiers. Door prizes were donated by board members Lynn Jordan and Jane Winter and were awarded to Jan Gibson and Dennis Webster. Birthdays were celebrated by June Diethrick, Verna Feather, Juanita Wallace Jackson and Cheryl Johnson. Each received a special birthday cupcake and a handcrafted decorative magnet.
The Marvin Community House was left to the women of Jamestown in 1951 by Elizabeth Warner Marvin. The home was opened to women's groups whose purpose is the moral and mental improvement of women in literary, musical, educational, patriotic, scientific and historical fields.
