RUIZ COMES THROUGH
SINCLAIRVILLE - Before Monday's game, Cassadaga Valley coach Ken Balling brought up Alexis Ruiz from the jayvee team.
Ruiz did not disappoint her coach as she had one RBI and scored two runs, including the game-winner, as the Lady Cougars (1-2, 1-5) rallied past Brocton (5-4, 3-3), 6-5.
Trailing, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Ruiz ripped an RBI single to tie the score. The next batter hit a roller to the third baseman whose throw got past the first baseman. Ruiz raced around the bases and scored from first on the error for the game-winning run.
"She had a big game for a jayvee player," Balling said. "She did a great job."
Alyssa Hahn was the winning pitcher as she threw a complete-game with 12 strikeouts with one walk.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Jess Merle had a double and a three-run triple while Morgan Bennett had an RBI.
