Until Saturday, May 17, hearts are being sold to benefit G.A. Family Services.
Ecklof Bakery, 832 Foote Ave., Jamestown, is holding a heart-shaped cookie sale with proceeds going to G.A. Family Services' Foster Care program. The cookies are 75 cents each or a dozen for $9. Richard Ecklof, Ecklof Bakery owner, said this is the third year the business has supported the program.
"It is an important program. There are kids who need foster homes," Ecklof said. "So we are interested in helping them out."

Amanda Christy, G.A. Family Services Foster Care program family resource coordinator, said the money raised through the heart-shaped cookie sale is important for the program to provide foster care services for the community.
"The money is used on activities. Like we have a foster parent dinner and an annual picnic. We use the money for games and activities, and giveaways and prizes. We also utilize the money for anything we need around the office," she said.
Christy said they are trying to encourage community organizations and businesses to gather money among colleagues to visit Ecklof Bakery to make a purchase.
"You know if everyone donates a dollar then a large amount of cookies can be purchased for everyone to enjoy," she said. "We're asking for the community's support in reaching our goals."
