To the Readers' Forum:
With reference to C. Ralph Heeter's letter, published on Wednesday, April 7, regarding respect to our national flag, many folks I have spoken with agree with him. The Kennedy Pride Committee has, for a number of years, provided a ''Flag Retirement Ceremony'' (observance) to respectfully retire (dispose) of worn or faded flags.
This year, the ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. in Hallquist Park, Route 394 in the hamlet of Kennedy on Wednesday, June 18. Flags to be retired maybe turned into the town clerk's office or the Kennedy Free Library during regular hours. New flags are available for purchase at these two locations.
The public is invited to attend this free observance. Refreshments will be available at the close of the ceremony. Additional information is available by calling 665-5969.
