DUNKIRK - Both girls softball games were decided by a run as Southwestern (4-3, 4-3) and Dunkirk (3-4) split a West Division 1 twin bill on Thursday.
Southwestern was the host team for the opener and won 5-4 by scoring two runs in the seventh inning. In the nightcap, Dunkirk tallied three times in the bottom of the 11th inning to pull out the 8-7 victory.
Britta Johnson tripled in the Southwestern seventh inning of the opener and came home on Maggie Burns' single to deadlock the game at 4-4.
Kristy Baggiano was sent in to run for Burns and came all the way around to score the winning run on a passed ball.
Johnson had three hits for the Lady Trojans and Maddy Drummond delivered two for Dunkirk.
Southwestern appeared to have the edge in the nightcap when it scored two runs in the 11th inning but Dunkirk rallied for three in its half of the inning to gain the split.
Crandall hit a two-run single with the bases loaded and when the ball got past the outfielder for an error the winning run scored.
Xiane Smith, Sydney Burk, Maddie Sullivan and Johnson stroked two hits for the Lady Trojans with Burk and Johnson rapping doubles.
Erin Hanlon had three hits and Bankoski doubled for Dunkirk.
EAST 2 DIVISION
FORESTVILLE - Sara Crandall pitched and batted Cattaraugus-Little Valley (7-0, 8-3) to a 15-0 girls victory over Forestville.
Crandall hurled the first five innings in which she gave up three hits, nine strikeouts and no walks while having three hits, including a three-run home run.
Kaitlyn Navarre took over for Crandall and pitched a spotless two innings with a strikeout, and no walks, hits or runs allowed.
Natalie Booth drilled four hits with a triple and Katie Reynolds added two hits, one a two-run double, in the 17-hit attack for the visitors.
Ashley Van Buskirk had a triple and Emily Narraway doubled in the defeat.
