Eleanor M. Whitney, 90, formerly of Sugar Grove, died Monday, April 28, 2014, in the Rouse Home, Youngsville, Pa.
She was born March 7, 1924, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Ivan and Helen Pangborn.
She loved to crochet.

Surviving is a son, Ronald (Susan) Whitney of Sugar Grove; two grandchildren: Thomas (Tonya) Whitney of Sugar Grove and Deborah Dorsett of Orlando, Fla.; four great- grandchildren: Ericka Rhoden, Danielle Bradish and Brielle and Brodie Whitney; two sisters: Janice (William) Gisler of Leetonia, Ohio, and Dorothy Horner of Lakeland, Fla.; and a brother-in-law, Richard Hallberg of Findley, Ohio.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Whitney, whom she married Dec. 20, 1941, and who died June 19, 2010; a stepmother, Dorothy Pangborn; two sisters: Margaret Crandall and Jean Hallberg; and a brother, Ivan Pangborn Jr.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Hill Cemetery Chapel.
The Rev. Billy Hughes will officiate.
Friends will be received for one half-hour prior to the service in the cemetery chapel.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
