LAKEWOOD - Area golf enthusiasts have an opportunity to enjoy a competitive round while benefiting a local toddler.
The Kallie's Krusade golf scramble benefit is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at Maplehurst Country Club. The shotgun start will be at 9 a.m.
The cost is $70 per player. Entry fee includes greens and cart fees, door prizes, food and beverage on the course, awards and a dinner banquet at Maplehurst. There will be a cash prize for first place.
Pictured, from left, are Tara, Kallie and Shane Swan. In August of 2013, Kallie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The event will also include an orange ball competition, toilet bowl chip off, "par 3 poker," "double your money," prize giveaways, a 50/50 drawing and closest to the pin competitions.
In August of 2013, Kallie, the daughter of Tara and Shane, of the Falconer and Kennedy area, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She was 21 months old. Kallie's cancer is currently in remission but she must undergo maintenance chemotherapy for at least two more years.
Shane is an officer for the Jamestown Police Department.
"The idea is for people to come here and have a good time," said Royce Swan Sr. "All proceeds exceeding the amount the family needs will go into a fund for other children with cancer."
Teams of four can mail in their registration, including the names of players and checks payable to "Kallie's Krusade," to Royce Swan Sr., 2567 Scott Hill Road, Kennedy, NY 14747. Entries must be received and paid no later than May 7. The scramble is limited to the first 120 players to enter.
