Cheers resonated through the air during a downtown Jamestown ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday.
Supporters of the Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet gathered on the third floor of the Willow Bay Building to celebrate the grand opening of the organization's new location. Among the notables was Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi, who was excited for the opportunity to be a part of such a momentous occasion.
"Anything that brings together a repurposing of grand-old buildings downtown, bringing people to the streets of downtown, adding to the arts scene downtown and nurturing the youth of the community is about the future of Jamestown," Teresi said. "This is a wonderful project - it doesn't get any better than this."

Following the ribbon cutting by Monika Alch, artistic director, participants gathered for a champagne toast. Alch exuded a copious amount of satisfaction in regard to seeing the project come to fruition.
"We've been here a couple of months, but now it's really official - it's wonderful," Alch said. "Cutting the ribbon was such a rush."
Lydia Everett, a Falconer native who studies with the Youth Ballet, said she felt in awe of the celebration and the outpouring of support.
"It's a beautiful space, and we finally get to have two studios," Everett said.
