Nancy Bartlett (nee Roberts) of King Road, Sheridan, N.Y., died Friday, April 11, 2014.
She was born Nov. 9, 1935, in Falconer, N.Y. to the late Millie (Nichols) Longhouse and Edward Roberts.
Nancy graduated from Cassadaga Valley Central School in 1953. She attended Jamestown Business College. She married the love of her life, Tom Bartlett, on April 21, 1956, with whom she would have celebrated 58 years of marriage.
She was a former member of the Sheridan Fire Department Auxiliary and had volunteered with the Youth Recreation Department in Sheridan. She and her husband owned and operated Main Motors of Sheridan. She had also been employed by G.C. Murphy, Dunkirk Telephone Corporation, Dr. Alfred Heinemann, SUNY Fredonia and McKenzie Corporation.
Nancy loved all types of music, birdwatching, gardening, an occasional trip to the casino and had recently taken up painting.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Tom; daughters: Brenda Reading (Jim Kranz) of Fredonia and Lori Lawhead of Hamburg; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Roberts (Cathy) of Avon Park, Fla. (formerly of Falconer); sisters: Sally Lawson (Karl) of Cassadaga, Sheila Evanczik of Jamestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Larry Longhouse; and a sister, Janet Roberts.
A celebration of life will be held at the Sheridan Fire Hall on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nancy donated her body to the University at Buffalo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sheridan Fire Department.
