Ray Ciancaglini will return to Jamestown Community College for a presentation on May 1 at 6 p.m.
This presentation will be open to the public for free and is sponsored by the JCC College Program Committee.
Ciancaglini, has been a concussion awareness and management advocate for many years and was instrumental in passing the current Concussion Management Awareness Act into New York State legislation. He founded the Second Impact website www.TheSecondImpact.com which is dedicated to concussion awareness.
Ciancaglini is endorsed by the New York State Athletic Trainers Association and has dedicated his life to broadening the public's awareness about concussions and their effects on athletes.
He is a member of the Rochester Boxing Hall of Fame and Geneva Sports Hall of Fame and has won the Golden Glove Heart Award, Jerry Flynn Courage Award, Rochester Hickok Hero Award and the New York state Executive Chamber Award.
His story has been awarded the New York Associated Press and New York Publishers Association Top Story of 2011.
After Ciancaglini's presentation, the film Head Games will be shown at 7 p.m. It is a revealing documentary about the concussion crisis in sports. Athletes and parents share their personal struggles in dealing with concussions from the professional to youth levels.
Head Games was named best documentary at the 2012 Boston Film Festival 2012, iTunes' Best of 2012 films, idfa Official Selection 2012 and Movies.com's Best Sports Documentary of 2012.
