BEMUS POINT - The Bemus Point Library and the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department have teamed up once again.
The library and the fire department are hosting a rummage sale to benefit the library Saturday at the fire hall, 13 Albertus Ave. in Bemus Point. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Kathleen McCarthy, library director, the event also serves as the fire department's volunteer recruitment day.
During the rummage sale, representatives from the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department will be available to discuss the duties and responsibilities of becoming part of the department.
"People can ask questions about what it would take to work for the department," McCarthy said.
All funds raised will help the library purchase new best-selling book titles and new-release movies.
"Residents love the fact that we have new-release movies," McCarthy said.
According to McCarthy, items including furniture, electronics, small household appliances, knick-knacks, toys and games can be donated. No clothing will be accepted.
Donations for the event can be taken to the Bemus Point Village Hall, 13 Albertus Ave., on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m.; Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.; Thursday from 6-8 p.m.; and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"Items will be priced to sell," McCarthy said.
Items that do not sell at the event will be donated to charity.
