RANDOLPH - Just months after her wedding day, one area resident received a life-changing diagnosis.
Jessica DiMaria, 25, a lifelong Randolph resident, married Chuck DiMaria in October and was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in January. She is the daughter of Terry (Hettenbaugh) Shaw of Little Valley and Mark Shaw of Randolph.
According to her mother, Jessica began having uncontrollable itching and significant back pain near the end of 2013. After visiting a chiropractor, it became clear that the issue was serious. A lump on her throat also appeared.

DiMaria is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments that will continue for at least six months.
Before her diagnosis, DiMaria worked as a dental hygienist for Tracy L. Culver, DDS, at the Bemus Point Dental Centre. Her husband works at the Randolph Veterinary Clinic.
According to Shaw, her daughter's English golden retriever, Maya, is DiMaria's lifeline.
Friends and family of DiMaria have organized a benefit to take place Sunday, May 18, to help with her medical bills. The event will take place at the Randolph Fire Hall, 70 Main St. in Randolph, beginning at noon, and will feature live music and a Chinese auction.
Donations of items that can be auctioned at the event and gift certificates are appreciated.
Monetary donations can be mailed to Sara Zink, 31 Jamestown St., Randolph, NY 14772.
