Zed Williams (Irving/Silver Creek) has recorded 14 points on five goals and nine assists for the University of Virginia lacrosse team (8-5).
Silver Creek Central School graduate Zed Williams (45) recorded two goals for the University of Virginia on Friday in a 17-15 loss to Duke in Atlantic Coast Conference lacrosse action.

Williams, a freshman, has started one game as a midfielder and has 15 shots on goal. Two of his goals came in a 17-15 loss to Duke on Friday night.
Overall, he ranks eighth in team scoring.
An Under Armour All-American during his high school days, Williams was listed as the No. 4 recruit in the country and the No. 2 incoming midfielder in the country by Inside Lacrosse.

Craig Howard (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake) had a strong showing in the pole vault as he was second with a vault of 16-8 for the University at Buffalo men's track and field team at the Florida Relays in Gainesville.

Sophomore Jennifer Kozlowski (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) won the 200 meters (23.10) and placed second in the 400 (52.22) for Fredonia State's women's track and field team at the Carnegie Mellon Quad at Gesling Field in Pittsburgh recently.

Freshman Cherise Gunnell (Falconer/Falconer) had a single for one of two hits recorded by the Fredonia State women's softball team in a 5-3 nightcap loss at Buffalo State.
In another game, Gunnell hit a solo home run during a 2-1 loss to Plattsburgh.
The Blue Devils are 3-8 overall and 0-2 in the SUNYAC at last report.

Jessica Young (Lakewood/Southwestern) and Alex Crise (Fredonia/Fredonia) of Fredonia State were honored on the SUNYAC All-Academic Team for the fall.
Young is on the women's tennis team and Crise is on the women's track and field team.

Joey Tingue (Pine Valley/Jamestown CC) pitched 1innings in relief as Fredonia State defeated Pitt Bradford, 4-2, in a non-league baseball game.

Asa Johnson (Jamestown/Frewsburg) pitched effectively for 6 innings with four strikeouts, two runs allowed and seven hits, but the St. Bonaventure baseball team gave up six runs in the eighth inning and lost to George Mason, 8-3, at Spuhler Field in Fairfax, Va.
Thad Johnson (Jamestown/Frewsburg) and Bret Heath (Jamestown/Jamestown) were also in the starting lineup for the Bonnies. Johnson was at shortstop and Heath was the designated hitter.
In action from Saturday, Thad Johnson (Jamestown/Frewsburg) started the four-run rally in the 11th inning with a double and eventually scored as St. Bonaventure edged George Mason, 8-6, in Atlantic 10 play to made the league record 2-7 and overall 8-19.
Connor Grey (Frewsburg/Frewsburg) started for the Bonnies (8-19, 2-7) and worked 6 innings, yielding just four hits and three earned runs. He left the game with a 4-3 lead.
Thad Johnson drilled three hits and scored twice for the Bonnies.
Heath (Jamestown/Jamestown), who played right field, had a single in the 11th and later scored.

Kyle Grey (Frewsburg/Frewsburg) recorded the save by retiring all three batters in the ninth inning as the Fredonia State baseball team knocked off New Paltz, 2-1, in the SUNYAC .
Gray got two batters to ground out and retired the final batter on a strikeout as Fredonia State went to 3-2 in the league and 8-9 overall.

Vinny Bomasuto (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) is eighth in batting for the Cortland State baseball team with a .326 average in 25 games, including 23 starts.
Bomasuto is 28-of-86 with seven doubles, three triples and a home run for 20-6 Cortland. He has also driven in 18 runs.
On the mound, Bomasuto sports a 1-0 record in six relief appearances. His earned run average is 4.50.
Nick Hart (Fredonia/Fredonia) has played in 18 games and is batting .389 (7-of-18). All of his hits have been singles and he has driven in four runs.
