CONEWANGO VALLEY, N.Y. - D. Mary Boire, 80, of John Darling Road, Conewango Valley, passed away at 5:40 p.m., April 10, 2014, in Sisters Hospital in Buffalo, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born April 19, 1934, in Conewango Valley, the daughter of the late Arthur and Maude (Burnside) Steward.
She was a graduate of the Randolph Central School class of 1951. Mary grew up on the Myers Farm in Conewango Valley. She worked at the former Jamestown Woolen Mills, the former Randolph Diner, Ellington Hotel and Newton Sales. She was an avid horsewomen and exhibited in many shows, parades and raised Appaloosa horses.
Mary enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, visits to the Casino, deer hunting, fishing, and making custom-ized cakes for her large family. She was a member of the Randolph American Legion Auxiliary Unit 181.
She is survived by four children: Vicki Hitchcock (the late Jim) of Randolph, Dan Schobey of Randolph, Eric Schobey and wife Judy of Ellington and Nita Bingerman of Randolph; two stepchildren: Tammy Belcher and husband, Mark of Freedom, N.Y., and Melissa Barber and husband, Mark of Deltona, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carrie Matthews of Conewango Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, Ralph Myers; an infant daughter, Debra Rae Schobey on Sept, 30, 1956: and sisters; Jean Pascatore and Janice Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday (April 13, 2014), in the VanRensselaer & Son Fun-eral Home in Randolph, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Pastor Stacey Teagarden, her granddaughter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rutledge Cemetery in Conewango Valley, N.Y. Pall Bearers will be: Jake Hitchcock, Nick Schobey, Wade Schobey, Russ Pascatore, Cole Bingerman and Brian Teagarden.
