MAYVILLE - Chautauqua Lake made an impressive debut in Division 2 West softball on Tuesday.
The Lady Thunderbirds recorded 17 hits and scored in every inning en route to a 25-2 win over Clymer.
Emily Corwin and Ashley Moulton provided the power with Corwin swatting two triples good for three RBIs and Moulton had two doubles for two RBIs for the Lady Thunderbirds. Mel McCutcheon had two hits, one a triple, and Courtney Hewes and Jade Walsh added two hits in the 17-hit attack, which began with a five-run first inning.
Winning pitcher Olivia Anderson, Ashton Albanesius and Walsh limited Clymer to seven hits while combining for eight strikeouts and two walks.
Anderson worked the first three scoreless innings with three strikeouts, two hits and a walk. Albanesius went the next two scoreless innings in which she allowed a hit, a walk and a strikeout followed by Walsh for the final two innings, striking out four, walking none and giving up two runs and three hits.
