CANANDAIGUA - The Jamestown Community College baseball team (1-1, 3-7) split an NJCAA Region 3 Division III doubleheader with Finger Lakes CC (1-1, 7-9) on Sunday.
The Jayhawks won the first game, 5-4, in 10 innings and lost the second game, 2-1.
Marcelo Parker was the starting pitcher for JCC in the first game and had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning when the Jayhawks led 4-1. The freshman right-hander gave up two runs, one earned, in the sixth and went on to finish allowing three hits, four walks and eight strikeouts.
Parker Zimmer pitched the seventh for JCC and gave up two runs to send the game into extra innings.
Steve Sattz, who was the winning pitcher, worked the eighth and ninth for the Jayhawks and allowed only one hit and one walk.
In the top of the 10th inning, Ken Millan led off with a walk and moved to second on an errant pickoff throw with one out. He moved to third when Rick Allen tried for a bunt single and then Jeff Andrulis came through with a two-out RBI single.
Ed Dorunda pitched the bottom of the 10th and allowed no hits, walked one and fanned two to pick up a save.
Andrulis had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run for JCC while Josh Allan had a single, a double and an RBI; and Christian VanNote had two hits and scored a run.
In the second game, the host Lakers scored two runs in the third inning and JCC, which had only four hits, came back with one in the fourth.
''We had our chances and didn't come up with the big hit,'' JCC coach Dick Adams said.
In the fourth, Cody Matheson led off with a double and scored on a one-out single by Bram Johnson.
Jose Corrales pitched all six innings for JCC and allowed three hits, two earned runs, walked one and struck out six
JCC is scheduled to host a Region 3 Division III doubleheader at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Diethrick Park.
