Dr. Thomas Verleni, 83, of Naples Fla., formerly of Flint, Mich., and Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, in the Avow Hospice House, Naples, Fla.
He was born July 30, 1930, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Perickles and Venetria Stogionedis Verleni.
Tom was a graduate of Jamestown High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Akron, his Master of Science degree from Kent State University and his Doctorate Degree from Kirksville College of Medicine.
Before his retirement, he was a radiologist for the Flint General Hospital, Flint, Mich., for 33 years, where he had advanced to head of the radiology department. He was also past president of the Genesee County Osteopathic Association.
Surviving are his wife, Norma G. Akers Verleni; a daughter, Khristine (the Rev. Bruce) Pratt of Hawaii; three stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Nicholas Verleni of Jamestown, N.Y.; a sister, Agnes Spiro of Cleveland, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Vangel and Gust Verleni.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. The Rev. George Zervos, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
