Harold J. North Jr., 70, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday (March 20, 2014), surrounded by his family and friends at WCA Hospital.
He was born May 30, 1943, in Jamestown, the son of the late Harold J. and Hilma North Sr.
Harold attended Cassadaga Valley High School and received an associate degree in engineering technology from Jamestown Community College. Prior to retirement, Harold was employed by Jamestown Precision Tooling as a machinist. After retirement, he was employed by Superior Grinding in Jamestown.
He had served as assistant Boy Scout master as well as being actively involved as an officer and secretary at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2145 in Jamestown.
Harold loved spending time with his family and friends, always making time to help and support them in their various endeavors and to share his vast knowledge in all areas of life. He loved pitching horse shoes. Harold always made everyone else have a better day from his smile.
Surviving are his wife Althea North of 51 years; three sons: Harold J. North III (Saramarie) of Sinclair-ville, Thomas North (Lisa) and Todd North, all of Jamestown; three grandchildren: James (Jamie) North, Jacob North and Jessica Pisker (Robert); his brother, Richard North (Caroline) of Virginia; and four brothers-in-law, their wives and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. His brother, Richard North will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown.
Friends will be received by the family from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
