The United Way of Southern Chautauqua County and several of its partner agencies will be taking part in a 24-hour Give-A-Thon starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday and ending at 8 a.m. on Friday,
The online fundraising event is called, Spring It On, and individuals can donate to the organization of their choice by visiting www.uwayscc.org and clicking on Spring It On.
"This is an easy way for people who don't normally contribute to organizations to do so in a quick, easy, and safe manner," said Tory Irgang, executive director of the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County. "Besides our own fundraising webpage, there are several of our agency partners who've created pages that people can donate to as well. Each organization has set a fundraising goal, with the hopes of reaching that goal in just 24 hours."
Spring It On is done in conjunction with Buffalo/Niagara's Day of Giving, and includes not-for-profits in Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Allegany counties. Local organizations taking part this year include American Red Cross of Southwestern New York, Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown, CASA of Chautauqua County, Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Chautauqua Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Council, Chautauqua Blind Association, Chautauqua Lake Child Care Center, Child Advocacy Program, Girl Scouts of Western New York, Jamestown Area YMCA, The Relief Zone, YWCA of Jamestown and the United Way of Southern Chautauqua County.
