There is a new way to be informed about the city's hospital.
WCA Hospital officials have started a monthly e-newsletter, with the first edition being emailed earlier this week. The newsletter is being called WCA Health E-News and people can sign up for it at wcahospital.org.
In the newsletter, Betsy T. Wright, WCA Hospital president and chief executive officer, states the publication was developed to keep people informed of the latest news and health information from hospital officials. She said the information inside the newsletter will be about new services, patient stories, programs, events and much more.
"The vision of our board of directors and hospital leadership, physicians, employees and volunteers is to be your first choice in health care by promoting good health and providing the very best in high quality care, right here where you live," Wright states. "We look forward to keeping you both engaged and educated on medical news that affects your health and well being."
The first newsletter features information about the new advanced computed tomography technology that produces high-quality images of the inside of the body and boosts reduced radiation dose imaging technology. The Optima CT660 enables fast, high-performance imaging for patients in a variety of clinical settings, including cardiac, neurological, emergency room and routine computed tomography.
The WCA Cancer Treatment Center, located at Jones Memorial Health Center, a division of WCA Hospital, was awarded the coveted national accreditation by the American College of Radiology. Radiation therapy is a common treatment for cancer and is used in more than half of all cancer cases.
The newsletter also includes seven reasons to eat an apple a day, with better health being as easy as reaching for the fruit the next time you need a snack.
