SYRACUSE - Jamestown High School keeps climbing up the most recent girls basketball poll of the New York State Sportswriters Association.
The Lady Red Raiders (18-2) went from No. 15 to No. 10 in Class AA, which is still led by Christ the King of New York City (21-2).
With a 58-42 win in the Section 6 Class AA championship, Jamestown can look forward to clashing with Gates Chili of Section 5 (16-5) in the state quarterfinals on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua.
Pine Valley (18-2) has moved up to No. 3 in Class D and has the task on Saturday of meeting No. 1 Romulus of Section 5 (21-0) at Finger Lakes CC in the state quarterfinals.
Chautauqua Lake (19-1) remains No. 4 in Class C and plays No. 5 Keshequa of Section 5 (19-1), also at Finger Lakes CC, on Saturday in another state quarterfinals.
Harpursville of Section 4 (22-0) is again the Class C leader while Randolph (17-3) is tied for 20th place with Fabius-Pompey of Section 3 (17-3).
Wallkill of Section 9 (20-0) still leads Class A as does Oneonta of Section 4 (18-2) in Class B.
