Alfred R. Rossetti Sr., 84, of Falconer passed away Monday (March 3, 2014) in WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident he was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Falconer, the son of Ceasare and Mary Chiaboudo Rossetti.
He attended Falconer High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in Alaska. He had worked for 40 years at Malleable Iron Works, and later for Blackstone Corporation for three years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Henry Mosher Post 638, American Legion and the Italian American Brotherhood.
Surviving is a son, Alfred R. (Vickie) Rossetti Jr., of Falconer, Dean R. Stephan of Modesto, Calif.; two daughters: Holly Butryn of Palm Springs, Calif., Autumn D. Raid of Geer, S.C.; eight grandchildren: Ted Butryn, Nathan Butryn, Forest Stephan, Amy Stephan, Tiara Gavulia, Alic Dean Rossetti, Thomas Rossetti and Sean Rossetti; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Germina Castaglione of Jamestown and Irene (Paul) Rizzo of Falconer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Sass Rossetti whom he married May 18, 1981, who died March 18, 2004; two brothers: Louis and Blaise Rossetti and two sisters: Nilda Willett and Irene Rizzo.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Joseph Janaczek will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
