LONG BEACH - Southwestern/Maple Grove advanced to the Small Schools semifinals of the New York State Club Hockey Tournament with a 2-2 record.
Southwestern/Maple Grove will meet either arch-rival Cheektowaga or Long Beach in the semifinals at 10 a.m. today with the championship game set for 5 p.m.
On Friday, Southwestern/Maple Grove stopped Bethpage, 5-3, as Curtis Carlson had four goals and Andy Farnham one.
Farnham delivered three assists while Graham Josephson, Tommy Gerace, Tyler Bell and goalie Ryan Pascarella added an assist apiece.
Pascarella made 24 saves in recording the victory.
Later on Friday, Cheektowaga topped Southwestern/Maple Grove, 7-1.
Carlson tallied the lone goal from Farnham in support of goalie Ben Richard's 27 saves.
Long Beach dropped Southwestern/Maple Grove, 4-1, on Saturday morning.
Nick Brooker scored the only goal from Brandon Decker while Pascarella made 41 saves in goal.
Later in the evening, SW/MG emerged with a 5-4 win over Starpoint.
Brian Moyer scored the winning goal while Andy Farnham and Brandon Decker added two goals.
Carlson and Decker delivered two assists while Farnham and Joey Gerace had one each.
Richard had 25 saves in goal in the win.
