Biotechnology students who are members of Jamestown Community College's DNA Club will host a research expo featuring student presentations from noon-5 p.m. on Friday.
The event, which will be held in the Science Center on JCC's Jamestown Campus, includes a soup-and -salad fundraiser from noon-1:30 p.m. Proceeds will defray expenses for DNA Club members attending the American Association of Immunologists conference in Pittsburgh in May.
Student presenters will be sophomore Maria Sena and recent JCC graduate Gabriel Hrysenko. Their presentations will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Sena will discuss "Meprin a Mediates CCL2 Activity in Murine Bone Marrow Cells Using a Model of Breast Cancer Chemotherapy." Hrysenko will present "Analysis of Borrelia in Lipotena cervi (Deer Keds) as a Model of Infection in the White Tailed Deer Population of New York state."
John McDowell, who teaches biological sciences at Delaware Technical Community College, will also provide a special program on Lyme disease research, beginning at 3:30.
The expo also includes student poster presentations, learning activities and biotechnology product demonstrations.
