Marvin E. Work, 73, of 1300 Cidermill Hill Road, Russell, Pa., formerly of Frewsburg, died Saturday (Feb. 22, 2014) at his home.
He was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Youngsville, Pa., the son of Lawrence and Arlene Tressler Work.
Before retiring, he had been employed at the former Blackstone Corp. and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was a member of the Samuel Derby Post 556 American Legion, Frewsburg and the Falconer Moose. Marv was president of the camp association in New Symrna Beach, Fla., where he had enjoyed spending the last 11 winters. He became very close to people he met from all over the country, and those whose path he crossed had nothing but good things to say about him. He enjoyed intricate woodworking, traveling, hunting, football and was a NASCAR fan.
Marv is survived by his loving companion of 29 years, Vivian Johnson; his children: Jim (Kellie) Work of Celoron, Audra Engle of Alden, N.Y., Wendy (Ken) Olson of Jamestown, Billy Birt Sr. of Frewsburg, Robert (Sylvia) Birt of Wilcox, Pa., and Roxy (Gary) Koningisor of North Warren, Pa.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Dewight Work of Arizona; and two sisters: Marlene Falconer and Beatrice Carlson of Chandlers Valley.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sons: Marvin "Charlie" Work and Kenneth Work.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. The Rev. Ronald Lemon, pastor of the Koinonia Christian Fellowship, Frewsburg, will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
