SHERMAN - Three victims remain in UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. following an early Saturday morning crash.
Dakota Bird, 19, of Ripley, remains in critical condition while the conditions of Ronald Miller, 21, of Mayville and Stephany Cloutier, 20, of Ripley were not known as of Sunday evening.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says charges are pending the conclusion of an accident reconstruction report and toxicology reports, which were taken Saturday morning.
The accident occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on Pelton Road when Bird was driving a vehicle south on Pelton Road and Miller was driving a vehicle north on the same road. The two vehicles hit head-on at a hillcrest, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Bird, driving alone, was taken by ambulance to Westfield Hospital before being flown by Starflight to UPMC Hamot. Miller was flown by Stat Medivac while Cloutier, a passenger in Miller's vehicle, was taken by ambulance to Erie. Another passenger in Miller's vehicle was uninjured.
The sheriff's office was assisted by the Sherman, Ripley and Mayville fire departments at the scene.
