CELORON - At their meeting last week, Celoron set a public hearing for Local Law No. 1 for March 10 at 6:50 p.m.
Local Law No. 1 will authorize the village to override the tax levy limit established in General Municipal Law. The budget for the village will be due in April.
In other news, the village board authorized open containers of alcoholic beverages during the Rib-Fest, which will be held from June 4-7. In a press release on Friday, Scott Schrecengost, mayor and chairman of the Celoron Rib-Fest Committee, presented a Community Service Award to Ed Shults III. The award was given to KIA of Jamestown in recognition of their years of corporate sponsorship for the Celoron Rib-Fest.
"Ed Shults Auto Group appreciates the opportunity to sponsor this event," Shults said. "It complements our Shults Heroes Campaign in providing local community support. We are very happy to see that all the profits support local nonprofit organizations."
The Celoron Rib-Fest donates all proceeds to the area nonprofit organizations.
Celoron authorized an addendum to the shared highway services agreement. This allows the village to tear down a house and dispose of the materials at no cost to the village.
The board also authorized the issuance of a $15,000 Bond Anticipation Note and a budget amendment.
