To The Reader's Forum:
On Feb. 5th, in the Washington Middle School Auditorium, the Jamestown School Board held a public forum on the potential veteran's exemption from school taxes.
I was amazed by how few people came to voice their comments on the issue. Only a handful of speakers were present to tell the board their feelings and thoughts about the new exemptions. This is a great opportunity for our veterans to save some real money on their school taxes.
The school board, Joe DiMaio and Tim Mains have gone out of their way to provide the public with the opportunity to speak on this issue. I am encouraging all veterans, veterans organizations and families of veterans in the Jamestown Public School district to attend the school board meeting scheduled for Feb. 25th at 7 p.m. in the board room at 197 Martin Road, Jamestown, N.Y.
Let the school board know that our community cares about its veterans. I'm afraid if more people don't show up to the meeting the board will decide not to participate in the exemption. This a great opportunity to let your voice be heard.
