On March 1, Urban Cycling Performance and Exercise Studio will host the second annual Cabin Fever Breakaway Indoor Stationary Bicycle Race to benefit the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown.
The local Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Individuals and teams are invited to compete in one of three heats. New this year, the individual event will begin at 9 a.m. Riders will be assigned a stationary bicycle equipped with an odometer. Participants will compete for 30 minutes and strive to pedal the greatest distance during that time. Due to the limited number of bikes, the individual event is limited to 15 participants.
Preparations are being made for the Cabin Fever Breakaway Indoor Stationary Bicycle Race on March 1. Team heats are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Each team of up to four riders will be assigned a stationary bike and will race relay style for two hours changing riders at their discretion. The clock does not stop. Winning teams will be determined by the total miles pedaled over the two-hour period.
Drawings will be held periodically throughout all heats for a variety of donated items.
Prizes will be awarded to the male and female individual rider who achieves the highest mileage during the individual event with an additional prize to the rider who pedals the most mileage overall.
In the team completion, prizes will be awarded to the teams achieving the highest mileage in the following divisions: All-Male Team, All-Female Team and Co-Ed Team.
An additional prize will be awarded to the team that achieves the overall highest mileage for the day.
The awards ceremony will follow the final team heat at 3:45 p.m. as team results are being evaluated cumulatively.
Preregistration is required. Individuals and teams must submit an online registration form at www.urbancycling365.com. Team registrations are completed by the team captain.
The individual registration fee is $25 and the team registration fee is 100. If you do not have access to online registration, you can register yourself or your team in person from 9 -5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown,.
There are no age restrictions. However, for safety reasons, all riders must be physically able to participate and must be at least 5 feet tall and weigh less than 300 pounds.
