Paul R. Whitford, 50, of Jamestown, formerly of Falconer passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2014), in his home.
He was born June 5, 1963, in Jamestown, the son of the late Norris C. and Donna M. Swan Whitford.
Paul attended Jamestown schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's School for Exceptional Children in Dunkirk, N.Y. He had been employed by the Resource Center workshop and most recently by Wendy's.
He was a lifetime member of the Chautauqua County Division of NYS Special Olympics. He and his family were honored by the NYS Special Olympics as Family of The Year. Paul enjoyed bowling, basketball, watching WWE wrestling and the Buffalo Bills.
Surviving are two sisters: Ellen (Randy) Colburn of Falconer, and Carole (Simon) Smith of Rochester, NY; five nephews: Chad (Banu) Annis, Kyle Annis, Andrew Smith, Michael Colburn, Ryan Colburn; and a great-niece Liliana Annis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norris C. Whitford on Dec. 6, 1993; his mother, Donna M. Whitford on Jan. 5, 2003; and a niece, Caitlyn Smith on Oct. 20, 1993.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Fal-coner Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Lemon will officiate. Burial will be in Sun-set Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received by the family from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff that Paul worked with through the years at the Resource Center and People Inc. Special thanks to Lisa Bongiorno, Teresa Johnson and Thomas Holland.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
