Stella Victoria Privateer, 92, a resident of Heritage Park, formerly of Fredonia, N.Y., passed away Feb. 11, 2014, after a brief illness.
She was born in Dunkirk on Sept. 15, 1921, the daughter of John and Katherine (Cynecki) Kwasniewski. From the age of 7, she was raised in St. Mary's Orphanage in Dunkirk.
As a young woman, she held many jobs, including elevator operator at the Statler Hilton Hotel, and while working at Van Raalte, she met through a co-worker her future husband, Salvatore Samuel Privateer.

A loving and hard-working mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her kind and gentle demeanor, and tireless dedication, will be missed by all.
She was predeceased by her son, Noel Privateer who died in 1976; her husband "Sam," who died in 1987; and her siblings Margaret, Alex, Henry, Sophie, Florence, Tom and Helen.
Survivors include her children: Marsha Privateer of Cape Coral, Fla., Elaine (Paul) Arendt of Gerry, N.Y., James M. Privateer of Boston, Mass., and Laura (Mark) Privateer-Swihart of Fredonia, N.Y.; her grandchildren include: James J. Privateer of Dunkirk, N.Y., Rebecca (Lester) Wilson of Lakewood, N.Y., and Laurin Privateer of Fredonia, N.Y.; great-grandchildren: Emmy and Owen Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements will be made by Larson Timko Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at Open Door Baptist Church in Cassadaga, N.Y., on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m., and will be officiated by Pastor Mark Emke.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
