Dorothy Genevieve (Sheldon) Gourley, 90, formerly of Sugar Grove, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Rouse Home.
Dorothy was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Ashville, N.Y., to the late Purl and Bessie (Woodin) Sheldon.
She was a homemaker, and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and all of her friends at the Rouse Home.

Dorothy loved gardening, playing bingo and listening to country music, especially all of the old church hymns. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends, especially Jacob Stover.
Dorothy is survived by a brother, Richard (Leona) Sheldon of Panama, N.Y.; a son, Leslie Gourley of Youngsville; a daughter, Darlene (Gourley) Goodman of Youngsville; four grandchildren: Lisa Jackson, Frank Goodman Jr., LaVonne (Michael) Carpenter, Leslie (Tammy) Goodman; 10 great-grand-children, seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Gourley, whom she married Oct. 23, 1942; and four brothers: Allyn, Kenith, Mainard and Ellwood Sheldon.
Friends will be received at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 314 North Main St., Youngsville, on Friday, Feb. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held with the Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain of the Rouse Warren County Home, officiating. Burial will follow in the Turnpike Cemetery.
