Girls between the ages of 6 and 12 can still register for this year's Southern Tier Girls Babe Ruth Softball season.
An in-person registration will be held on Saturday at the Jamestown Cycle Shop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All girls who plan to participate must be registered by March 1 to be eligible to play.
Players participating in the league can come from the following school districts: Bemus Point, Chautauqua Lake, Clymer, Falconer, Frewsburg, Jamestown, Panama, Randolph and Southwestern.
Participating girls must be between the ages of 6 and 12 as of Dec. 31, 2013. Girls who are age 6 through 8 will play in the Rookie League, girls ages 9 through 10 will play in the Minor League and girls ages 11 through 12 will play in the Major League. Girls ages 13 through 16 will play in the 13-16 Year Old League. Registrations for all age leagues must be completed and submitted by March 1 for the girls to be eligible to play this season.
Registration fees are: $40 for Rookies, and $50 each for Minors, Majors or 13-16 year olds. The registration fee covers the cost of a uniform shirt and Babe Ruth League required charges, in addition to visors for players in the Rookies and Minors, and socks in the Majors and 13-16 year old leagues.
The registration fee does not include pants for Rookies, Minors or Majors, nor shorts for the 13-16 year olds. Returning players can use their pants or shorts from last year, and new players can purchase the pants and shorts on their own from the Jamestown Cycle Shop.
Optional sweatshirts and sweatpants for players, parents and coaches can be ordered at registration at a separate cost.
The league schedule will be based on the number of teams, and number of fields available. Games are expected to begin on April 26, with the season ending about June 23.
