Scouts in full dress uniform from Troop 126 and Pack 126 were actively participating in Scout Sunday at St. Mary of Lourdes Church in Mayville on Feb. 2. In coordination with the Rev. Todd Remick, Eagle Scout Michael Parker organized the scouts and their duties to celebrate the Mass.
The first Sunday of February each year is dedicated as Scout Sunday as a visible sign for the Scouts to display the Boy Scout Promise to "do my duty to God" and the 12th point of the Boy Scout Law, "A Scout is reverent."
The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrate its founding in the United States on Feb. 8, 1910, based on the program started by Lord Baden Powell in England on Aug. 1, 1907. Scout Sunday celebrations began in the mid-1940s. Scout Sunday is always the Sunday preceding Feb. 8.
