SYRACUSE - Sherman is ranked No. 4 again in the weekly New York State Sportswriters Association Class D boys basketball poll.
The Wildcats (14-1) gave up their top spot a couple of weeks ago when they lost to non-league Randolph and fell to No. 4. New York Mills of Section 3 (15-1) is No. 1 once more with Argyle of Section 2 (12-2) No. 2 and undefeated St. Regis Falls of Section 10 (16-0) No. 3. Panama (9-4) is honorable mention.
Jamestown (11-4) is an honorable choice in Class AA, Randolph (10-5) in Class C and Fredonia (11-3) in Class B where Olean (12-3) is No. 6.
Cardinal Hayes of New York City, currently the owners of the longest win streak in the state at 19 in a row, sits atop Class AA, Amityville of Section 11 (14-1) leads Class A, Westhill of Section 3 (16-0) is No. 1 in Class B and Clyde-Savannah of Section 3 (15-0) is top-ranked in Class C.
Among girls teams, Chautauqua Lake (12-1) is No. 5 in Class C and Pine Valley (11-2) holds the same spot in Class D. Jamestown (13-1), which knocked off Frontier on Tuesday, is No. 15 in Class AA.

The leaders stayed the same as Christ the King of New York City (15-3) tops Class AA, Wallkill of Section 9 (12-0) leads Class A, Irvington of Section 1 (14-1) tops Class B, Harpursville of Section 4 (16-0) sits atop Class C and South Kortright of Section 4 (15-0) is No. 1 in Class D.
In the most recent wrestling poll, released last Friday, Falconer (18-1) was ranked No. 6 among small schools, but suffered a 39-29 defeat to No. 3 Midlakes of Section 5 (27-1) last Saturday. Warsaw of Section 5 (21-0) is No. 1, General Brown of Section 3 (20-0) No. 2 while Olean (19-4) ranks No 19.
Monroe-Woodbury of Section 9 (18-0) is No. 1 in the Large Schools poll with Sachem East of Section 11 (16-0) No. 2 and Hauppauge of Section 11 No. 3 (19-0).
