FALCONER - Winners of the Ross Grange 2013 Scholarships attended their meeting to share college experiences.
Patrick Caldwell of Frewsburg is attending Alfred State, while Maxwell Peterson of Kennedy attends Cobleskill State. Aaron Rahr, who attends Morrisville College, also received a scholarship but was unable to attend. Certificates were presented by Lisa Lynde of The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, which administers the funds for the Grange Scholarships. Michelle Frederickson of the foundation also attended.
Letters of thanks were received from nurses at the Sinclairville and Falconer (Fenner) Schools for socks, mittens, hats and underwear given by the Grange at Christmastime. The Veterans Hospital of Buffalo sent a letter of appreciation for the Veterans Day cards sent for distribution to the veterans.
Ross Grange has given scholarships for many years to help young people with college expenses. 2013 winners recently attended a meeting to tell of their experiences. A card of thanks was received from members of the group home who attended the Ross Christmas party.
Ross Grange will host the County Pomona Grange meeting Saturday. Betty Wakefield is chairman of the lunch. Meetings for Legislative and Lecturers committees will be at 11 a.m. The business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Members are asked to bring personal care items to be given to women's shelters by the community service committee.
The next Ross Grange meeting at the Falcon's Nest Banquet Hall in Falconer will be Jan. 27. Those working on assembling afghans for women's shelters will meet at 11 a.m. and should bring their lunch.
The regular meeting will start at 2 p.m. with refreshments served by Ray Bliss and Leona Peterson, followed by the business meeting and program.
